Duration: 7m28s
Location: Jordan Valley and Zaatari refugee camp, Jordan. Film following the UN population fund's efforts to reach pregnant Syrian women living outside the formal camps. Film also highlights the culture of early marriage that has become more prevalent amongst Syrians since the war began and, along with it, teenage pregnancy. Cash-strapped families are often marrying their daughters off earlier in exchange for dowries, and because it means they will have one less mouth to feed.  Families also feel a responsibility to their girls to protect them from sexual harassment and exploitation – problems that have also become more prevalent since the start of the Syrian crisis - and they see marriage as one means of protecting their girls.
